It’s enough to do it in only one task. Another option is to disable password expiry in SharePoint.
Thanks for the suggestion, we’ll include a similar feature in a future version of the product.
Currently you can refer to the %tmp%\PU.log file (e.g. map the %tmp% folder as a network share to access the file remotely).
To make the update tasks more stable set up the Retry Count and Retry Wait options in the Advanced Settings page of the wizard. Please send a request for this to sales (at) power-planner.com and include the case sensitive name of the computer.
You can find the current version number in Control Panel\Programs
The list of major features is updated in the Manual (Options\Help)Only Excel workbook files (xlsx, xlsm, xlsb) are listed on the right hand side. Double click on a folder or document library on the left hand side (e.g. master) to open it’s subfolders (e.g. reports).
The problem here is likely caused by not having Administrator rights on the computer. Power Update Manager (the user interface for scheduling the tasks) requires Administrator rights for accessing Windows Task Scheduler to create the update tasks. Running the actual update tasks usually doesn’t require Admin rights, only setting them up.
1) This should work with if you don’t have Options\Disable Parallel mode set (unless you have Excel 2010 and Power Query which requires UI automation). What’s the actual message you get from Excel or what exactly happens when you try to open another workbook? What kind of Excel version (2010 / 2013) and what kind of connections are you trying to refresh?
2) If the target and the source files are different then the target file overwritten with the updated version of the source. You can set the target to same as the source file but not in the Free version (because of the limitation mentioned below), you can upgrade to the Trial version to test this.
3) This a limitation of the Free version (if the source file is replaced, you have to re-create the task). You can also test this if you upgrade to the Trial version.
Try downloading and installing from here.
Please also check that the pre-requisites are installed:
.NET Framework 4.0 Full
AMO 2014 x64 (or x86)
Instead of the crash dump open the details part of the error message box and send it to [email protected]Thanks for the feedback, glad that you found the problem. Popup windows can halt the refresh process so Power Update closes them. If you experience similar issues, you can enable Options\Diagnostic Mode, when Excel is visible and popups are enabled, so it’s easier to identify the problem.
Hi,
Try to specify the Macro name without ThisWorkbook.

You can download and install the latest update from the same location.
The tabular SSAS setup you mentioned should work if you specify the file share on the SSAS Server and the local path on the SSAS server mapped to the file share.
Please make sure you have administrative access to the SSAS server to be able to restore cubes.

http://www.power-planner.com/Portals/0/Downloads/PU/pusetup.exe
(Please note that there’s about a 1 min delay before the actual update starts in case of Excel 2010 PowerPivot models, to allow time for larger models to load)
Please try setting the port to 465 in Advanced Settings in Email options as port 587 might be blocked in your organization.
Is this a personal gmail account or a Google apps account?
Can you try to send mail using your gmail account with an email client like Outlook with the standard settings, to confirm that the required ports / protocols are not blocked by your organization:

Also if you have Gmail 2-step authentication enabled, you might need to use an application-specific Gmail password.
