    Ian,

basically it should work for “ordinary” stuff. Even for PowerPivot within common memory limits. Though there may arise some sheets that 32bit users will not be able to open or to refresh.

But: I never tested this. So, don´t rely on my statement only 😉

You might consider a few options:

    1. Using Power Query reduce the number of tables, columns and rows as much as you can while ensuring that all your measures can still be calculated. Ignore all unnecessary stuff (especially comments, text fields, …)
    2. Update to the 64bit version of MS Office and
      1. maybe even buy more RAM for your PC
    3. Talk to your CRM IT in order to “pre-calculate” some things into new tables which you then can use instead of the original tables. But this will add an additional layer with all it’s dependencies to the reporting and prevents you from having a “live” look into the system

If all this still doesn’t work for you and even Power BI doesn’t serve you anymore, then maybe you should consider “serious” BI tools (which usually are based on seperate infrastructure, are quite expensive and take some time to being implemented). But if your requirements are that big, you may need them.

    I’d start with option 1 and 2, then 2.1.

    Good luck

    Olaf
