Hi Tom,
Perfect, thank you! This is exactly what I needed! I must say that I do not completely understand the reasoning behind the method you used yet, but I am going to study it thouroughly and test if I can reproduce it with our own data.
At the job we use SSAS, so I could use different SQL statements to import the tables I need (SalesDelivered, Categories, Orders) from the overall SalesDelivered table into my model.
Will let you know if it works with that.

Hi Fahad,
I have included the calculations in simple SUMIF and AVERAGEIF in the data sheet in the enclosed Excel.
Hope this sheds some light on the 2 measures I want to create. Your previous suggestion unfortunately did not work.
Thanks again!
Hi Tom, Volfied,
This is an interesting problem with an even so interesting solution it seems.
I hope you don’t mind that I downloaded the solution workbook to take a look at tomorrow at work.
If so, please let me know and I will delete it.
Thanks!
Hi Fahad,
Thank you for your quick reply. I’ll try your solution for measure 2, but I have the feeling that it is the same as the measure that I already created. Why do you use CALCULATE in this instance without any filters applied?
The third measure is actually the same as the second measure, minus the value of the products that fall in the selected category. Example: an order with $200 in sales for cars and $50 for bikes, will show $50 when “cars” is selected and $200 when “bikes” is selected.
What i would like to do here is to determine which category products have the highest average order value outside of the category.
Hope this clarifies my question a bit.
