I’m having an issue sorting a text column in my date table by fiscal year.

    I have a column titled “Month-Year” that displays like this: Oct-15, Nov-15, Dec-15 etc..

The calendar table starts on 10/1/2015 and is dynamic, so ends today 3/14/17.

My fiscal year ends on 9/30/15.

I created two measures, Total Writeoffs YTD and Total Writeoffs Fiscal YTD and I want to be able to place the Month-Year on rows so I can show a total posted by month and then a running total for the fiscal year.

In the example workbook I achieved this by rearranging the dates on the pivot table manually.

I’d also like to be able to write a measure for Prev Fiscal Year Writeoffs so I can place the month name (e.g. October) on rows and have a measure that shows how we did during that month last fiscal year and compare that to this fiscal year and then I can write a measure to calculate the percentage change YoY.

    I’ve included the sample workbook.

You could add a “sort by” value in your calendar table.
