Tom, thanks for your reply. The volume of data is too large to do this in Excel. and this table is part of a much larger tabular model, which is refreshed daily, so don’t see this is something that can be done in Excel (outside of the model).
Reports failed all day. Multiple reboots, clearning of temp files…nothing worked. i was finally able to get them to refresh via PowerUpdate BUT Only when when I had “diagnostic mode” turned on. I got all the reports refreshed, turned it back off… rebooted PC (thinking this will help ensure all files are “released”. tried a report again, and it fails.
Help, I really need to figure out why this happening all of a sudden.
PowerUpdate runs on machine dedicated to the reports, so it isn’t being used by anyone while the reports are running.
Not sure what else can be causing the conflicts. But this is huge problem as we have at least a dozen reports refreshing every day for executives. and on Monday’s we have additional reports, and more on month end.
Sorry, i’m not sure I understand your question. I have migrated the PP data Model to Tabular, so I don’t have a PP data model, and connect to the model that lives in Analysis Services.
But all the existing Pivot Tables use the connection for ThisWorkbookDataModel, which I can’t seem to update thru UI or VBA, and you cannot change the datasource of PP Pivot Tables (via the UI).
I’ve tried a few suggestions I found online. I can, via VBA, update the ConnectionString, but that didn’t seem to do anything. The pivot tables are still acessing the data from the PowerPivot datamodel, and not the model that lives in Analysis Services.
i found my problem. it was an issue that the macro was attempting to send an email via outlook, but it was causing the security warning message box to pop up, so that was failing the macro. I’ve had to use a workaround, so it does not item MailItem.Send and the macro is running again.
Yes, I confirmed my email/pwd is correct, and is specified as the sender for my gmail account. and my account is *not* setup for 2-step authentication.
